In the second middleground layer (Fig. 32) the initial chord is unfolded through the interval of a sixth to lead to the first note of the Urlinie, g2. In the process, the passing notes c2 and d2 within the first interval of a fourth are contrapuntally combined with the notes of a B major arpeggiation, and as a result the original intervals 9 and 10 are transformed into and 8, to the advantage of the composing-out. Above scale step V [marked ‘Tl.’ in Fig. 32] the neighbour note [f] is composed out by means of a descending arpeggiation.
